What You Don’t Do Is As Important As What You Do

Thoughts lead on to purposes; purposes go forth in action; actions form habits; habits decide character; and character fixes our destiny.

A few months ago, I was with a group of friends having coffee and some of the women started talking about shopping and looking for sales. One of the men in the group mentioned that he had a friend who was selling all different kinds of stuff at 1/4 of the retail price. If they were interested, he would be willing to go pick some up and bring it over for them to look at. Now, I guess I don’t have to tell you that the women got very excited and practically pushed the guy out the door to get the stuff.

We arrived at around 11pm and as soon as we got off the bus we were surrounded by a river of cockroaches. Those things can move pretty fast, they had me dancing around trying to avoid them.

OMG! The guide was going to lead us to the hostel by foot. I ran straight back into the bus station, I was going to turn back. The next bus back to San Juan was at 1:00pm the following day. There were no taxis, nothing! The only way out was to walk through the plaza of cockroaches to get to the hostel. Continue reading →
